Today was the day Sarah Jane has been waiting for all year!
To my little princess, this day is better than Christmas. She's had her dress for months... hiding it in the back of her closet from her Daddy like it was her wedding dress. I've caught her in her room dancing in front of the mirror at least 20 times in the last month. All week she has been asking me HOW MANY DAYS!?
And finally... the time came!
Every year since Sarah Jane was 14 months old, George has taken her to the Daddy Daughter Dance. We make a really big deal of it around here - hair, nails, make-up, a new dress and shoes... the whole nine yards. It's such a special night.

George always wears his best suit and tie and Sarah Jane starts getting ready HOURS before the dance. He makes it a point to make sure that she gets flowers and they go to a nice dinner. He opens the door for her, tells her how beautiful she is, and always puts her first. At the end of the night, he kisses her on the porch --- and the very next morning we start making plans for next year.
George also makes it a point to tell her that when she is older, if a guy doesn't treat her exactly the way that he does, then he is not worth her time or effort. She just smiles and says "I know, Daddy" --- and I think that she really does. Whoever plans on one day winning the heart of my little girl, sure has some big shoes to fill. Her Daddy has definitely set the bar high.
Here are some pictures from this year's big night:
