All signs of baby are gone! GONE. Bye-bye... sianara, adios, farewell, tootles... whatever you want to say, however you want to say it... Those days are gone... because NOW, I have a big girl! That picture up there is the last official "baby" picture, because now she is officially big! ---a big girl that has her EARS PIERCED. Oh yeah, you read that right... pierced ears. Two of them. little silver studs. Believe it or not, to most, this isn't a big deal... some crazies out there pierce their babies ears as infants (no offense intended if you are in fact one of those crazies)... I just can't bring myself to do that. Shots were hard enough on me (and SJ) But today, she was a champ... and SO WAS I!
Here is how it went down...
Setting : Albany Mall, walking past Claire's
George: Hey, Sarah Jane, wanna get your ears pierced? (knowing that I would say no!)
Me: (to prove George wrong) Yeah, Sarah Jane... wanna get your ears pierced (thinking she would surely be too chicken)
Sarah Jane: (looking at both of us like we were the coolest parentals ever!) YES!!
Shoot! Now what? --- You guessed it, we can't turn back. So we walked in... and there was a lady getting her ears re-pierced (I thought maybe this will scare her out of it). This lady didn't even flinch... and I thought great, couldn't she have at least jumped?? After that Sarah Jane was so ready. SO we got out the little earring picker outer tray thingy and she picked the little white gold studs (over the gawdy flowers and hot pink stones --- YES!) and climbed up in the chair like she had done it a million times. The sweet lady drew the little purple dots and then, with a lady on each side of her and a teddy bear hugged tightly between her hands... these ladies poked holes into my child that will forever remain. That's right... I permanently and intentionally scarred my 5 yr. old for life... and she loved it. There were about 20 seconds of tears that quickly went away with mention of a trip to the pet store... and with the tears went all signs left of my baby. So, people... let me introduce you to Sarah Jane, my beautiful big girl with pierced ears...
SHE LOVES THEM! ---and I do too. But don't tell anyone.

awe, that actually made me cry. We waited until Emma asked. But she is the weirdo child that gets excited about getting her flu shot. So, it happened at three. But, I only have a picture. I wish I had gotten a video!
i love it! that's exactly how our baby got her ears pierced. walking thru the mall and daddy asked! i'm glad to know we are not the only "crazy"ones :)cmydust
